The first is the Felixstowe Sewing School, having met the lovely Amanda who runs the workshops in all her vintage attire I was desperate to find some time to book on one of her fab sewing courses, I have now completed 2 courses and can't wait to go back! The Thrifty Thistle in Felixstowe sell a huge range of handmade gifts by independent sellers and have now started courses. There are a huge variety of courses from jewellery making, photography and classes for children. Check out their site for more details here.

Jenny Wren Yarns is in the centre of Ipswich on the quant St Peters street and offers courses in knitting and crochet for all abilities. A yarn shop with a vintage twist, creates the perfect relaxed atmosphere to learn how to get started on your granny squares and create the blanket you have always longed for.

Halfpenny Home is based in Needham Market and offers classes in free motion machine embroidery, needle felting, candle making and a chance to make your own soap. Quilters Haven is a fantastic fabric shop that also offers a variety of courses and one day workshops where you can make your first quilt, learn how to applique or make a Christmas stocking. WeaverByrd offer a very unique inspirational freestyle weaving course over 2 half days and in a perfect location in their studio by the sea in Felixstowe. Create your own fabric or scarf exploring textures and colour.

I recently went to my local Knitting group and loved meeting people I could share projects and get help with my crochet. I always like meeting others who share the same love of craft. Here are some of the local knitting and crochet meet ups in Suffolk
